Dodges Ferry White 8 (Patrick 6, Nicholas, Imogen) def Lauderdale Yellow 0

Against a very physical team the children’s skill and teamwork proved decisive as they ran their opponents ragged from start to finish.

The scoreline may suggest that it was an easy game but that was far from the case. Lauderdale’s tackling was crude and many of our players finished the match with bumps, scrapes and bruises.

To our players credit they refused to be intimidated and played fairly throughout.

Imogen and Jonty were fantastic in goal while Blaise supported them heroically in defense. Ethan played his part, always concious of his position while Sam made numerous tackles, runs and set up more than one goal with a perfectly weighted pass.

Nicholas scored a wonderful goal up front and Patrick dominated whenever he had possession.

Another great win for the kids and it was thoroughly deserved too.

One player down at the start of the game saw Kacey McCarthy from Lindisfarne Blue join Dodges Ferry Blue. Lucky for Dodges he scored in the first two minutes, showing great sportsmanship. Good defense by Mela and a great save by Kasper kept the score to 3:1 to Lindisfarne at half time.

Bryce joined the game for Dodges, so the Lindisfarne player retuned to his own team. Lindisfarne scored two quick goals in succession. It looked all over for Dodges, but the team continued to try hard. A long clearance kick by Joe in defense was quickly picked up by Kasper, who scored a clean goal. Soon after Mela and Kasper combined, with Kasper slotting another through the posts. The score was 5:3 to Lindisfarne. Unfortunately the Dodges team slowed down, and Lindisfarne scored another four goals in succession. Final score was Lindisfarne nine, Dodges three.

Despite the scoreboard, the team tried hard, particularly Kasper in attack and Toby in defense and attack. Mela, as always, was great in defense. With only two rounds to go, the team is hoping to finish on a winning note. But regardless of goals scored, the team always tries hard, and shows a never-say-die attitude. Great work Dodges!

U 7 Blue, 24 July – 7 August

August 12, 2010

24 July: scores for this one were Dodges Blue 2 vs Cambridge White 4 …next time Dodges :)

31 July: Dodges U7 Blue 4 vs Cambridge Blue 1. The kids loved this game especially since they got to play in the rain for the second half …first time this season.  (Yay Rain !!! Hope it fell at Dodges!!!)

7 August: Dodges U7 Blue 2 vs Richmond White 4. Some good defence in this game with a nice few moments of team work showing through again and quite a few near misses at goals from both teams.

Dodges Ferry White 8 (Patrick 5, Blaise 2, Imogen) def Lindisfarne Black 3

The children completed their 12th win of the season in fine style.

Patrick began the match in top form knocking five past the opposition goalie in the first fifteen minutes.

Blaise scored a brace from great strikes in the second half while Imogen finished off a nice run and pass from Nicholas late in the match.

Samuel was always dangerous on the left wing as was Jordan, both up front and in defence.

Ethan created a few chances and was unlucky to convert while Jonty had a good match in goal too.

It was another excellent team effort and it was great to see the kids rewarded for their marvellous spirit and unselfish sense of fair play.

Dodges Ferry White 4 (Imogen 2, Nicholas, Patrick) def Montague Bay Black 0

Against a more than competent opponent the children defended calmly and attacked with purpose to record another well deserved victory. Keeping their structure from start to finish they repelled every Montague Bay thrust forward and were always dangerous whenever they had possession.

Imogen probably played her best match ever, Jonty was flawless in goal while every other member of the team supported each other unselfishly and enthusiastically.

Overall, it was a most satisfying win and when considering the quality of the opposition, one of the best team performances this season.  GO DINGOES!!

Dodges Ferry Blue v Richmond Black

The game started at a cracking pace as Joe Sharpe and then Kasper Hallam both had shots for goal in the first minute. Riley Stubbs kept the ball forward with some good clearances in defense. Kasper had another shot that was just saved by an excellent effort from the Richmond Black goalie, but it was only a matter of time before Dodges would score. Several minutes later Kasper scored a clean goal, which was followed by a goal to Richmond, despite the best efforts of Toby Hallam, Dodge’s goal keeper for the first half. Bryce Smith also saw plenty of action in the first half, and along with Riley Stubbs in defense, kept Richmond to just the one goal. Dodges finished the first half with another goal from Kasper.

The second half started with a great save by Blaise Booth, goalie for Dodges in the second half (and extra player as Dodges were one short). Finn Lord put one through the goals after a great run down from the centre. Kasper quickly followed suit with a spell-binding display of ball skills, maneuvering through four opposition players and finishing with a well executed goal. Richmond managed to sneak one past Blaise, who continued to show excellent concentration and fierce determination as keeper. Bryce was unlucky as he just missed a shot for goal. Although initially upset, Bryce quickly regained focus and continued to try hard in defense, showing everyone the true meaning of being a ‘team’ player. Richmond had a clean shot for goal in the dying minutes of the game, but Blaise managed to stretch high, intercepting the ball to see it bounce off the bar, keeping Richmond to just the two goals in the process.

Final score Dodges 4, Richmond 2. Best player was awarded to Bryce Smith, for his determination in defense and good attitude – his best game of the season thus far. Go Dodges!
