U7 Blue, 28 August

September 2, 2010

Dodges U7 Blues (3) played Lindisfarne White (5) . It was a well played match with the kids all enjoying their last game of the season . The skills of the kids have definitely improved throughout the season , with a little more team work starting to happen… they seem to have stopped stealing the ball from each other… and now work more on keeping it away from the other team and even passing it among themselves :) Good playing !!!!!

Overall its been a great season and on behalf of all the players and parents we would like to thank the ERJSA people and all those who have kept the Dodges club running and we would especially like to thank our coach Dave for his HUGE amounts of patience and his time and mostly for keeping soccer fun !!!!!!!! Thanks Dave !!!!!!!! :)

U7 Blue, 14 & 21 August

September 2, 2010

14 August:  Dodges Blue (5) vs Richmond Black (nil). A game well played by both teams. Dodges just seemed to be the ones who landed it in the goal, despite some great tactics emerging from Richmond. Some good sharing of the ball with 4 of our 6 players on the field scoring the goals. Well done Jet , Jason , Jacob and Gracie and good playing from Max and Kaden !!!

21 August: Dodges U7 Blue (4) vs Montague Bay Gold (2). Another good game.

Dodges Ferry Blue vs Lauderdale Yellow

It was quickly apparent that the two teams were a good match. Finn gave his all in the first half, throwing himself at the ball and tackling hard. A highly skilled redhead from Lauderdale snuck one past Kasper, Dodge’s goalie for the first half. Dodges were caught off-guard when this was quickly followed by another. The score at half time was two nil to Lauderdale.

At half time Steve and Jenny both gave an impassioned speech to the team, reinforcing that Dodges could score if they kept hard at the ball and worked as a team. This speech paid off as Finn dribbled the ball up from the backline and scored for Dodges. Kasper was so close to scoring soon after this – twice he tried for goal but was unsuccessful both times. But we knew we were close. Finally Kasper ran up from the centre and put one through the goals! Some good clearances by Gus kept Lauderdale goalless. Kasper was able to get another goal. Dodges were ahead! Minutes later Toby put another through the goals. The very skillful Lauderdale redhead got one past Mela in goals, giving Lauderdale a late goal. Final score Dodges 4, Lauderdale 3.

Dodges showed skill and determination throughout the game, and came up to win from behind. Given that this is the final week for many of the Dodges team, it was an apt way to end the season. Good job Dodges! Next week will see four of the team away, so it is appropriate to say a big thanks to Steve our coach and Jenny, our organizer. It is through Steve’s efforts every week that the team showed such a great improvement over the course of the season. And it is through Jenny’s enthusiasm for the game and faultless organisational skills that the team were always on time and the games and season were so much fun. Thank you both so much, your efforts are really appreciated by us all.
